I love co-op, I have a twin brother and of course we love to play video games together since we we're very young. It would have been a fun addition with litterely no downside since you could just play the game alone if you wanted to soak in the atmosphere. It doesn't change that it would be a fun gameplay experience, the devs didn't leave it out for any other reason than they didn't have the funds for it from the indiegogo fundraiser.
